Cruise Insurance - The One Thing To Make Your Cruise Enjoyable

Imagine spending several wondrous days on the turquoise seas on the most luxurious cruise liner you've ever seen. Now imagine taking that once-in-a-lifetime cruise with inadequate cruise insurance, or worse, none at all. Chances are you won't even enjoy your cruise because you won't have peace of mind.

You might ask, is cruise insurance really important? The thing is nobody really knows for sure what could happen while you're traveling, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.

Cruise insurance can help immensely if, for instance, your trip is cancelled because of foul weather. Or if your baggage gets lost somehow. There are personal belongings that are surely irreplaceable, but it's a consolation to be partly compensated for the loss. Even something as simple as missing a connecting cruise can ruin a dream vacation.

search the Web to find the best deals on cruise insurance. Most companies provide checklists of items to consider when purchasing a policy. Unexpected illnesses, accidents, and trip cancellations are good enough reasons to get cruise insurance.

Normally, travel deposits are non-refundable and this could be a great loss if an unexpected event comes up, necessitating you to cancel your trip. Cruise insurance can reimburse deposits and payments if the reason for cancellation is included in the coverage, such as injury, sickness, or death of the insured, a traveling companion, or a family member.

There are some policies that cover a lot of weather-related crises such as blizzards, typhoons, or floods. Some even include coverage of emergency evacuation and repatriation.

It's important to read the fine print to make sure that you're getting your money's worth. Do some research about the companies known to respond quickly to claims payments. If there are items in the contract which are vague, never hesitate to ask the company's representative about them.

You must also remember to inform a trusted friend or relative about your travel plans which cruise you're taking, where you plan to go, and details about your itinerary.

Cruise insurance may seem like a minor concern, but getting one makes you feel more secure, knowing that your trip won't be marred by unexpected expenses.

Where Can I Find a PSP Emulator?

There has been much talk about PSP emulators and the like. Such emulators allow you to play and test PSP games and software on the PC. Of course, they are a closely guarded secret and available only to designated, licensed developers approved by Sony.

Of course, it cannot be expected that Sony will release this official emulator to the general public. For one, it is likely to contain protected code that hackers might be able to reverse engineer and result in a higher probability of games and protected hardware being "cracked".

Luckily, the PSPe has been released. This is the first known emulator of the PSP available for the PC. It only plays homebrew games and no commercial titles can be played on it. This is a very early release as denoted by its version number, 0.7. When a version number is less than one, this usually denotes that it is far from the finished product but has been brought to the public early so that they can at least test what functionality there is -- the product need not be perfect before release. Due to this the performance of this PSP emulator is quite poor -- the speed of the games is not optimum.

Games can be played on the PSPe by simply dragging and dropping into a subfolder and then this will appear in the emulator itself. Currently, there is no gamepad support and games can only be played with the keyboard.

Homebrew games are those which have been coded or created by home enthusiasts. Lacking the resources of commercial giants like Sony and their developers, these are usually much more simple and short than their commercially available counterparts. Nevertheless, they can still be a lot of fun, whether played on the PSP itself or on a PSP emulator.

There is also another PSP emulator available although this instead plays snes or Super NES games on the PSP. Snes9x has been a leading SNES emulator for the PC for many years and recently they have created a version for use on the PSP. Again, this has been released early and has a version number of 0.02. Again, due to this, the performance of this PSP emulator is a little slow compared to what you might be used to.

Sometimes, people will resort to a PSP emulator such as Snes9x because they lack enough good games on their PSP. Instead of buying commercial titles from the store at a high per game cost, one alternative is to enlist the services of a dedicated PSP download site. These sites offer the latest games as well as music, movies and wallpapers -- all encoded especially for the PSP. These sites are also guaranteed to be free from spyware and viruses and technical support is available, should you need any assistance.

Who Wouldn't Want to Play Games at an Incredibles Party?

In 2004 Disney/Pixar released the latest in Superhero Cartoons, the incredibles. Including this wacky family at your next party will bring out the super hero in all kids!

Incredibly Fun Obstacle Course
As we all learned from watching Disneys incredibles its not good for superheroes to get out of shape. Keep your superheroes in top notch form with this incredibles Incredibly Fun Obstacle Course. This game is best played in a backyard so kids can run and play. Being a super hero takes strength and agility. Develop those skills with a fun obstacle course. Divide the guests into teams of two and the team who completes the course in the fastest time wins! For the first task place take four hula hoops and stager them on the ground. Have each kid jump into each hoop to the end of the line. This is similar to what football players and army soldiers use with tires. Another would be to use your tire swing hanging from a tree and have the kids toss three bean bags through the tire. The last obstacle on the course can be to find cape in the sandbox. Bury two red washcloths in the sandbox and the first team to find the washcloth wins the race!

Steal the Cape
This is a great twist on Steal the Bacon incredibles style. Divide the group into two even teams and put them on opposite sides of the playing field and set the cape in the middle. Name a person on each team Mr. Incredible, Plastic girl, Frozone and syndrome. If you have more than four players on each team pick additional incredibles names. Line each team up and shout out a team player like Frozone. The Frozone from each team has to run to the center of the field and try to be the first one to grab the cape. The winning team is the one who has, after every team member has been called, stolen the cape the most times!

With party games like these, your incredibles Party is sure to be a heroically good time!

Halo 3 - Hip or Hype?

best game ever, or best hyped game ever?

halo 3 has been anticipated for a long time by its zealous fans. Once promised to release with the XBox 360 and later delayed, it's been in the making for some time and much anticipated. Is the wait worth the hype or is it just a flash in the pan? halo has a reputation for being popular with "unsophisticated" gamers who value eye candy and light gameplay over a quality experience. Is this true, or is it just gamers being stuffy?

I'm sorry to report that to a degree, it's a bit overhyped. It's a solid game with good controls, but is basically just your average first person shooter with slightly better than average production values. Not to mention, using a controller to aim and shoot is difficult for those used to the more accurate controls offered by a mouse and keyboard, and the PC version comes out months after the xbox one.

Not to mention, well, xbox live. It's a fantastic service in technical terms, but like many things, we're not so sure about the people using it. halo is great fun played with friends that you know and can wager with and exercise bragging rights over, but the jury's out on online matchmaking. The wide variety of people to play around the world of many skill levels is great, but we were rather appalled to hear what sounded like legions of 12 year old boys spew forth a legion of dirty words, some of which we had to look up. If you're looking for new and exciting ways to learn ethnic slurs, this is it folks.

Thankfully, you can mute people who get a bit obnoxious or simply play with people who are a bit more chilled out. When playing with people who keep the trash talking to a bearable level, halo 3 is a solid and fun game and possibly required owning for every shooter fan that owns a 360. Those of us who are a bit more casually-minded, however, are still having a great time with Uno!

Woodland Verses Links Golf Courses - Which One Wins?

Many people believe that the word 'links' refers to the way the end of one golf hole defines the beginning of the next - rather like the links of a chain. This is not so but it actually comes from the Old English word 'hlinc' meaning a stretch of flat ground along the seashore. And that is exactly what it is like. Sea on one side, land on the other (often the houses on the edge of the town form the boundary). It is a naturally occurring terrain usually on a well drained sandy soil.

The parkland course on the other hand is 'purpose built' and is often much more hilly and varied in terrain than the links course. Also, the presence of trees offers a different kind of hazard from those found on a links. Each course has its own type of problems and challenges but the links course probably calls for rather more 'invention' or 'adaptation' in the way the shots are played.

Parkland courses are usually set in an area not infrequently wooded to some degree and often with heather, gorse, sand bunkers and sometimes water in the form of ponds or lakes. However, the main difference between links and parkland is that the latter is much more obviously manufactured. This is not said by way of criticism since inland courses by definition have to be manufactured. The quality of the course though is more to do with the skill of the designer and how much this "manufactured-ness" shows. The optimum use of the space available and the incorporation of existing natural features - woods, trees, water, ups and downs - are where the architect can bring his creative powers to bear.

A links course on the other hand is usually a much more rugged proposition. It's a completely natural setting - too 'natural' for some people - where the wind from the sea plays a much more prominent part in the game. The nature of the terrain forces you to adapt your shots to the prevailing conditions and the lie of the land. One great advantage though is that being on sandy soil it does tend to drain well and very quickly so the surface remains firm and playable all year round.

Nevertheless it is no place for the complaint 'It's not fair'. Life isn't fair on a links and you have to brace yourself for that. You could hit a perfect drive straight up the fairway only to have it finish up on a hanging lie with three huge bunkers between you and the green two hundred yards away.

The distances on your scorecard will be accurate but useless. I have played at Turnberry where one of the par threes is an eight iron in the morning but a three wood in the afternoon - and it was nothing to do with the port at lunch.

Playing out of the rough is a different game; the whins and other grasses can twist your clubhead and make the ball behave in quite a different way when trying to chip on to the green from the rough. Don't expect to play to your handicap on your first visit to a links course - even in sunshine and no (apparent) wind. You need to be able to 'read' the elements and this comes only from experience. Why do you think so many canny golfers chip and run from so far off the green?

Unlike the parkland course where the course is manufactured, the links course demands that the shot is manufactured.

But all in all it's a great challenge - never the same from one day to the next. One compensation however for these difficulties is that you will not encounter many trees. Which brings us back to parkland golf.

Essentially, unlike the natural design of the links, this is down to the skill of the architect. Everybody accepts that golf courses are 'constructed' but the trick is to make them look as natural as possible and, in the case of some of the great inland courses, it works! It requires a number of criteria to be fulfilled: first and foremost it must be a challenge to the world's best - and must be accepted as such. It must have variety - every hole must be individual but the 'whole' must have a personality. It must be fair and not just playable by top championship players and, lastly, it must be aesthetically pleasing. Such a course would be Sunningdale - a club blessed with two of the great courses where every hole is a world unto itself. So whether your preference is for links or parkland I hope you manage to get the round you've dreamed about on the course of your choice.
